The idea of “legacy” means different things to different people.
I specialise in Inheritance Tax planning, so discussing and helping clients build and protect a financial legacy is something I’m working on most days.
But alongside financial matters, as a parent for nine years, I’m often thinking about the broader aspects of legacy: memories, values, lessons, and the impact we have on others.
And of course, legacy isn’t only about having children. We all have people in our lives we care about — and who are shaped, in some way, by knowing us.
So let me ask you:
· What do you want to leave behind – beyond financial wealth?
· What qualities, values, or lessons do you hope your loved ones carry forward?
· What are you already giving them today, simply through how you show up in their lives?
· And when the time comes, what part of you do you hope continues through them?
I hope the above has got the “little grey cells” firing — mine certainly are.
If the mood strikes, I’d love to hear what legacy means to you. And as always, anything you share with me remains completely confidential.
